TWO KOBO PIECE
This is 2018 and we are not in the jungle. It’s been 58 years now, we
have gone a long way and still have a longer way to go, and we could have done
better, we should do better for our sakes and that of our generations young and
unborn. I wonder, if anyone had the power to turn back the hands of time, what
will they change in our past? Sadly, this is just mere wishful thinking, we
only have the future to plan and look forward to.
Nigeria, our beloved and blessed country, the most populous black nation
who has been through hell and back on several occasions needs a home maker.
Some may wonder why a home maker. There are those who can build houses and
there are those who can also build houses and make them a home. Why the
disparity? What’s the difference between the latter and the former?
A house is a structure, a dwelling place that serves as living quarters
for an individual or one or more families while a home is an environment that
offers security and affection. They say home is where the heart is and the
heart can only want to be where it feels secure, loved and provided for. We
have a house no doubt, it is our natural abode but it sure doesn’t feel like
home, at least not to many. We see the effect in the export of intellectual
manpower that should serve us here but the temptations of the call to greener
pastures is irresistible.
The quality of a home maker is not necessarily tied to a particular
gender. A home maker cares not only to building houses but also in providing basic
amenities and functionality for the all-round development of the people. He or
she recognizes the importance in placing value on the social, mental,
educational, health and growth of the people in all spheres to the best of
their ability. The wellbeing of the people always takes top priority.
A lot is happening in the country right now and major Election Day is
itching closer. Will we have the pleasure of electing home makers, if there are
truly any amongst them? We the people need to do what is right; this nation
needs a HOME MAKER.
